Frustration Over School Expenses *Sponsored*

I am excited to have the opportunity to share the experiences I've had with Campus Book Rentals and their services on the blog today!

Every time husband and I talk about our budget and where our money is going, the cost of school always comes up. It is painful thinking about how much sooner we could have paid off our debt or how much more money we could have saved up for a house if I wasn't in school and having to pay tuition, student fees and book expenses every semester. We'd be almost $10,000 richer every year!!! That's a good European vacation, cash for a decent car, a whole new wardrobe plus some, oh the things I could do with that extra money! I don't regret going to school, I know I won't regret getting my degree, and I've really loved a lot of the classes that I've taken, but all of those generals and all of the books that have come with them seem like pointless expenses sometimes!

Luckily for me, a semester or two into my education, I discovered Campus Book Rentals. The second my required books for the coming semester are posted, I hop on over to their website and rent me some books (unless they're brand new and not available there). More often than not, Campus Book Rentals prices are the cheapest around, and after the semester is over, I don't have a textbook that I'll never even touch again lying around collecting dust and taking up space in my already tight apartment!

Some of my favorite things about renting from Campus Book Rentals:

  • Flexible rental periods with the opportunity to extend - I love that I can rent my textbooks for an entire semester, a block of the semester or a few weeks and then I can extend my rental period if I need to keep the books for even longer.
  • Free shipping - My books are shipped to me for free and I'm given a convenient little pack to ship them back in. All I have to do is put my books in, seal it up, and stick it in the mailbox to be picked up. Super simple, right?
  • Quick shipping - There have been a few semesters when I've changed my class schedule last minute or not known about a required book until the first week of class. I've ordered from other websites and been in a panic, hoping that they get to me in time to do the required reading and assignments. Whenever I order from Campus Book Rentals, my textbooks get to me within a few days, no stress.
  • The best prices - Seriously, I make a list comparing this site with my campus bookstore and other popular resources for buying textbooks and most of the time, it wins!

Other great perks of Campus Book Rentals:
  • Save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
  • Can highlight in the textbooks
  • They donate to Operation Smile with each textbook rented
  • 30-day risk-free returns

So what about those books that I can't find on Campus Book Rentals, the ones that are new and not available used yet? I have to buy those at full price and most of the time I end up selling them back to the university for A LOT less than I paid in the first place. That was how it went until Campus book Rentals introduced a new program, Rentback. I started participating in this awesome program just last month with a book that I had to buy new for a class last semester and it is awesome! The program allows you to make 2-4x more money than you would make through buyback options. It's a simple process, so why not grab all of your textbooks off the shelf or out of your closet where they're doing you no good and see if you can make some money off of them? My textbook is already in use and I'm making money back from it!

Not spending as much money on textbooks and getting money back on the ones that were expensive really does take the pain out of all of those huge school expenses that we love so much and makes for a much happier me and a less stressed out husband! Some Oldies but Goodies

Today I'm supposed to share with you some of my favorite posts in the archive of this little blog! I decided that my "archives" are anything from this day back just because I really love some of my more recent posts.  It was actually really entertaining to go back and read all of my prior posts, maybe some of you new blog friends have already done that, I know that when I find a blog I love, I tend to settle in and read from the beginning! Anyway, if you're too lazy to search through those old posts for good ones, you're in luck because I've compiled a neat little list with a description of each post for your convenience below. I noticed that the my favorite posts are usually the ones that correspond with favorite memories.

  • Our Proposal Story - The true, crazy me shines through in this post! I think every girl gets a little crazy around the time she gets engaged, and me being sick the same weekend didn't help the situation any.
  • Hijacking Our Date Night - Husband plans some really great date nights sometimes, like this one, and then I take over and make him do something that he'd rather not and ruin that date. Ooops...
  • Our Wedding - Pictures and details from our wedding at the Bountiful Temple.
  • Our Reception - I LOVED our reception, every detail. We had so many friends and family come out to support us, it was a perfect night and everything went perfectly!
  • Paying off my Car - Getting rid of our first debt was such a huge moment for us!
  • Five Year Plan - I looked back on my life and then looked forward to five years from now and it was a lot of fun!
  • My Anniversary Gift - For our one year anniversary, my husband managed to surprise me and I think I was more excited about that than my actual gift, even though I liked that a lot! It took a lot of effort and planning on his part to successfully keep me in the dark, I am a curious person and if I have even the slightest idea that there is something going on, I try to figure it out.
  • Our One Year Celebration - I would have to say this weekend is one of my favorite memories. I love spending days at a time with my husband without any responsibilities or commitments.
  • My Hobby - Last summer I shared my hobby with you, and a few people have asked about it recently. You can view it here if you want to.....
  • Disneyland - We went on our biggest trip together to Disneyland six months ago! My favorite day was when we celebrated my birthday there :)
  • My Husband's 25 - The husband has yet to really love birthday celebrations as much as I do, but I had a fun week planning and celebrating with him.
  • Applying to Date my Husband - This will always be one of my favorite stories, and I can't wait to share it with my future children one day.
  • Our Love Languages - I'm a HUGE advocate of the Five Love Languages and I really love talking about it with people.
  • Debt & Net Worth - This post was written by my husband, but I thought it was really fantastic!
  • How to Get Rid of Anger in Your Marriage - This post is more funny than anything, but I really like it!
  • A Week of Date Nights - Now that it's summer, I have really enjoyed the opportunities for more date nights with my husband.
  • How to Enjoy the Rain - I love everything about rain storms!
  • My Life Motto
  • Finding My Own Beauty
  • An Apology to my Husband
  • Embarrassing my Husband - I love this video of my husband!

A Baby "Shower"

I am not posting a Blog Every Day in May post today because I felt like the topic was really similar to one from last week and I couldn't think of anything to write about. Instead you get to hear about the baby shower I threw for my best friend this past week! She was in Utah visiting for a wedding and since she doesn't plan on coming back before the baby is born, I put together a quick shower so that we could celebrate!

My dearest Heidi Lynn friend. If you look behind
her and to the left, you'll see my rain storm!

The theme of the shower was baby "shower". I got my inspiration from this post over here. I used a lot of her same ideas, and then came up with some on my own. It was time consuming but fun and I am really excited about how it turned out!

Some of my favorite details.

I loved the blue striped straws that I found at Zurchers, they were probably one of my favorite things and when I added a cloud punch to them they were even cuter. The thank you bag idea came from the original inspiration post, but I changed them the design a bit. I also couldn't resist getting those white and blue shimmery candies from Oh! Nuts, they were perfect rain drop type detail.

The food table

I served a light dinner at the shower. We had rolls with meat and cheese, lemon water, fruit salad, a veggie tray and cupcakes. It was really easy to put together and yummy too! For other showers I've thrown, I end up spending a lot of time putting together my meal plan for and don't pay as much attention to the decoration/theme detail so I'm glad that I chose an easy menu this time.

My favorite rain clouds! Tutorial here.

I LOVED these rain clouds! At the end of the night, I decided to leave them up for spring decorations, but half of them had fallen down by the end of the next day and the rest (all but two) are down now. I guess this week I'll have to take them down and throw them away.

The cupcakes. Tutorial here

I am not an awesome cupcake decorator, and I wasn't in love with the cake or frosting recipe that I used for these, but they still tasted good and looked cute. I was proud of myself for getting the frosting color to match the beads perfectly!

I am glad that Heidi let me throw this shower for her! I had a lot of fun and I enjoyed seeping what creative things I could come up with!

My dear friend Krista came early to
help me set up! Thanks friend!!!
Heidi and I! I love this girl so much and miss her every day!
